Catching Copper, a short story by Sovay Berriman, 2023, entwines personal memory with imagined possibility. Part of the wider MESKLA | Brewyon Drudh body of work, the story speaks to some of where the MESKLA project has come from. It is about loss, change, and power. It considers how people, place and experience form who we are; it wonders about relationships to land, labour, and what we leave behind; and it pays attention to the impact of small moments.
Catching Copper book, 210 x 210mm 170gsm paper, riso printed and hand stitch bound by Amy Jemmett at Roots Press. Sovay has recorded an audio version of the story, which will be publicly available as part of the MESKLA project in the coming months. As a thank you for purchasing the printed version, a link giving early access to the audio recording is included with all book purchases.
