Work in progress evolved during a residency at Auction House, Redruth spring 2020, and later at Back Lane West in late Summer 2020. The exhibition of the work at Auction House was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This body of work is thinking through my relationship with my materials and tools; the resources we use and their journey to the time with us. The fragility and durability of different materials, the social and climate impact they carry, and how personal economic situation influences working practices. Particularly thinking about plumbing retro-fit work, where the new work we install directly connects to the labour and decisions of those gone before. We also must think of those who will come next and ‘leave enough pipe’ and room for them to work.
